Leukaemia is a kind of cancer in the tissues that forms blood. When this happens, the ability of the body to fight infection is hampered. It also affects the bone marrow by weakening it. Some of the major kind of leukaemia are lymphoblastic leukaemia, acute myeloid leukaemia and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
The major causes as seen are genetic disorders (someone in the family history who had leukaemia), heavy smoking etc. Someone who works under extreme conditions should be a little careful because sometimes the exposure of high radiation also causes this disease. People who work in chemical factories specially benzene, also have a high risk of getting this disease.
High fever and nausea are some common symptoms in addition with excessive sweating in the night, weight loss, weakness, tiredness and fatigue as well as regular infections and decreased eating habits. There is also a problem of heavy bleeding even when there is a tiny injury or bruise. It can only be detected by a proper checkup which includes bone marrow biopsy, lymph node biopsy and lumbar puncture. These are some of the general ways to diagnose leukaemia.
Chemotherapy is a valid solution, other treatments include biological and targeted therapy which has stem cell replacement and radiation therapy. Proper diet and a healthy lifestyle is very much required for people suffering from this disease, it might not treat the issue, but will definitely help you prevent it.
